South Asian Football Federation Championship cup which is also renowned as SAFF Suzuki cup will be taken place in Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It gives the opportunity to young and dynamic players all around South Asia to battle against each other for the championship. Total of eight countries in the south Asian region will compete in the tournament and the finals of the tournament to be held on 15th of September 2018. History of the Tournament. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Afghanistan are the countries will compete in the tournament. The inaugural South Asian Football Federation was held in 1997 in Nepal. And from the inception, this tournament became the most prominent soccer tournament for south Asia. Out of the 8 countries, India has won the tournament 07 times while Maldives, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have won the tournament a single time. 



In 2016 the tournament’s executive committee decided to award the hosting rights of the tournament to Bangladesh and they have held the games twice before in 2003 as well as 2009. For 2018 SAFF games, Trivandrum in India along with Maldives and Bhutan also made bids to host the games. The games will be held at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka which can hold up to 30,000 spectators. Teams have been divided into two groups. Group A consists of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Pakistan. And Group B consists of India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. After the group stages top two teams from each group will battle in a knockout phase and from the winner will be decided on 15th of September 2018.
